Monika Marx, North Vancouver's first certified RKC trainer, is passionate about outdoor sport and constantly on the lookout for new training techniques to make her clients stronger, faster and injury free. She is an avid cyclist, having participated in downhill, cross country, and multi-day mountain bike races, and GranFondo length road races. Her favorite indoor activities are deadlifting and playing with kettlebells!
Monika has attended workshops with some of the premier performance coaches in North America. She has attended the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) advanced certification, and is certified as both a StrongFirst Kettlebell instructor, and RKC (Russian Kettlebell Certified). Monika is passionate about cycling performance, and has attended Hunter Allen's two day workshop focusing on training and racing with power. She is currently pursuing the three year SomaTraining program through Guy Voyer, focusing on MyoFascial Stretching and ELODAS, an incredibly effective and unique decoaptation program for specific spinal pathologies.
Laurie Citynski grew up competing in a wide variety of sports but was always drawn to the allure of the mountains. In 2011 she discovered mountain biking and completely immersed herself in the sport, obtaining her PMBIA level 1 certification and working as a coach for the Trek Dirt Series since 2014. She also races downhill, competing in the BC Cup circuit and winning 2016 BC Cup overall title in her category. Laurie will be racing professionally for the 2017 season at the Provincial level.
Laurie has a diploma of Human Kinetics from Langara college as well as a Bachelors in kinesiology, minoring in psychology from UBC. In 2016, Laurie successfully trained for and completed the demanding SFG 1 kettlebell certification; one of the premier kettlebell certifications in the world.
Her passion and enthusiasm for kettlebells and lifting heavy is apparent in every session and every exercise seems to be either her favourite or at least “super fun.” Laurie knows that strength in the gym transfers into not only physical but also mental strength in everyday life and is a big fan of continually building on positive, healthy habits.
When not riding, racing, coaching or lifting, she can be found eating, hiking, playing soccer, reading or drawing.
